Brief History of RLS Career Center

RLS Career Center, formerly called the Regional Learning Service of Central New York, began as a project to study the phenomenon of adults' lifelong learning and career changing.

From this fundamental beginning Learning Consultants, with the support and assistance of the community created a network of education and career development resources. The first client was seen on January 20, 1974 and since that day more than 170,000 adults have sought advice, advocacy, and clarification of education and career goals at RLS Career Center.

Not only has RLs provided one-to-one individualized services, but it has also administered other vital services:
bullet Corporate Services
bullet Displaced Homemaker Program
bullet Education Information Connection
bullet Resource Center

In its continual charge of addressing changing community needs, RLS has recently formed partnerships with other human service agencies to provide services for individuals who are marginally employed or underemployed and who are seeking career and educational options.
